We have been very busy at Sington nursery celebrating Diwali, the Hindu Festival of light. The children made special scented cards, tea light holders called Divas and created Rangoli patterns. The day was filled with lots of dancing and singing. We listened to the traditional story of Diwali about famous prince Rama and we all enjoyed dressing up in Sari’s too.
At Sington Nursery we are getting ready for Harvest Festival. Sington’s Scarecrow has been collecting donations for people in need.
We have planned a visit to Emmanuel church in West Hampstead on the 14th of October to drop off the donations we have collected.

Suzy set up a hospital in the tent, Alice went to the hospital and Suzy listened to her chest with the stethoscope , Suzy examined her with the magnifying glass and then read her a story to make her feel better.

Children started experimenting water flow through various tracks. This activity extended to children creating river pond and eventually fishing activity. They had great fun, jumping on the puddles and making sounds- splash, Squelch, splash!

It started with a tray of baby Powder and turned into the imaginative play of two boys.
“The digger is picking up the snow to put in the car. It’s to put in the dragons nest. The dragon will be happy if they have some snow. I will have to be quiet before the dragons hear me…”

Pets are important in the children’s lives as they can provide enjoyment and help children develop responsibilities transferable to adulthood.
Having a relationship with a pet can help develop such skills as: communication, nurturing skills, empathy and a caring attitude. Taking all of this in consideration, plus the fun children can have while playing with a pet, we invited Janosch to the Nursery.
And we did had a lot of fun, stoking, feeding and learning about a dog’s habits.
On the 30th October 2015 the children and staff got involved in the mysteries and mischief of Halloween. We had children dressing up in pumpkin, witch, princess and vampire costumes for the afternoon party. The staff didn’t hold back either in getting involved, they dressed up as skeletons and witches.
In the daytime the children took part in activities related to Halloween before they got ready to show their moves on the dance floor in the afternoon. The children made Halloween masks, decorated pumpkins and bats, and even crafted their own pumpkins. It was amazing to see how involved and artistic the children were throughout the day.
